March 7, 2018 – John Rod and Company – Winner at FAME
We are excited to share the news about the 14th Annual FAME awards, but first, congratulations to all the winners!
The FAME awards were created by the Shore Builder Association of Central New Jersey (SBACNJ) and honors the marketing accomplishments of companies, home builders, remodelers and associate members like John Rod and Company.

WINNER – BEST COLOR AD FOR AN ASSOCIATE MEMBER – KIPCON
Kipcon is an engineering firm located in North Brunswick, NJ. The ad concept was created by John Rod and his team and uses children in the lead character roles. Creating a new fun and whimsical way of looking at engineering, our goal was to change the persona of an often-intimidating profession (engineering) in order to seem more approachable to our target audience (property managers). The series of ads is meant to differentiate Kipcon from the competition. We wanted to capture a human element and bring emotion and a childlike “enthusiasm” to the work that is done by Kipcon Engineering and its staff..
WINNER – BEST WEBSITE FOR A COMMUNITY – COTTRELL COURT TOWNHOMES
Simple, clean and easy to find and navigate. The Cottrell Court Townhomes website is based on two primary factors. The first was the use of keywords and dynamic content (GETTING FOUND). All the copy on page and off page (meta) is written around our very well chosen keywords. The second factor was marketing the website with the use of dynamic photography, the web is a photo contest after all!
Google analytics were telling us our GALLERY page was the most popular so we made sure the blogs, social media posts, digital advertising, and digital PR all had links to the gallery photos of our professionally decorated Model Home.
WINNER – BEST BROCHURE – HICKORY FARMS at Berkeley
The brochure concept was a collaborative effort by John Rod and Jaime Lynn Drodz-Bennett. The brochure jacket was designed with a die-cut and printed with a 4-color lifestyle tip-in. The inserts included a compliment of floor plan inserts and contain the information about the site plan and pricing. The Hickory Farms green and taupe was used throughout with vibrant lifestyle photos and full color rendering to add “pop”. The print was done on a digital press, which added to the cost savings. The voluminous amount of information is neatly packed into a convenient holder which allowed buyers to add to the packet as they followed the buying process.
WINNER – BEST MULTI-MEDIA PRESENTATION – RIVERDALE PARC VIDEO
With the average time span of a consumer down to 7-8 seconds, the challenge was to create a video that immediately grabbed our target audiences’ attention. The video for Riverdale Parc combines drone aerial footage, still photography and the Ken Burns effect, action shots, special effects, graphics and music. In the Riverdale section of the Bronx, it is green and lush with area parks and schools and scenic beauty. We wanted to capture the nearby Henry Hudson River and with the use of our drone, we immediately “give away” how truly close the property is to water. In the video, we also had to capture the amenities and with well-placed graphics, create a show and tell about the property, the lifestyle, the homes and the neighborhood. We are proud the video has led us to a building that is not only beautiful, but now at fully leased to capacity!
WINNER – BEST COLOR AD FOR A COMMUNITY – COTTRELL COURT TOWNHOMES
At the beginning of any ad campaign, there has to be public awareness when designing and placing ads for digital and newspaper application. This Cottrell Court ad was designed in color of a “local” Monmouth County Newspaper with a readership that includes people likely to move to Old Bridge and whose income level and average credit score make it possible for them to purchase the home of their dreams. The use of our branded colors of gray and orange is continued in our ad, which simply invites people to come see the model home. The photography is based on the model home designed and decorated by our team member Keva Stewart. The ad and photography ran in a series of print and digital forms in NJ and NY markets.
We are honored by FAME and we congratulate all the winners. We share these awards with our team members first and thank them for their talents, creativity, extra efforts, sometimes long hours and meeting those crazy deadlines!
